Not just high-speed
Forget the specialty camera you only pull out for slow-motion. K65K is a complete cinematographic tool that shoots at 24 fps for dialogue, ramps to 100 for action, and pushes to 800 to freeze the impossible. Same camera, same look, any speed you want.
This isn't about capturing one hero shot. It's about having the freedom to move between speeds without changing your setup, your lenses, or your workflow. The K65K integrates into your production like any other camera — it just happens to do things no other camera can.
Two formats. Maximum flexibility.
K65K shoots in two distinct formats, each optimized for different creative needs. Choose your format based on the story, not the limitations of the equipment.
12-Perf (1:1)
52.5 × 52.5 mm
Square format
1–400 fps
Maximum resolution
6-Perf (2:1)
52.5 × 26.2 mm
Widescreen format
1–800 fps
Maximum speed
The 12-perf square format delivers the largest frame size ever used for high-speed cinematography — a massive 52.5 × 52.5 mm negative that captures detail no other system can match. The 6-perf widescreen format doubles your maximum speed to 800 fps while maintaining a frame size larger than standard 5-perf 65mm.
110× more visual information
In 12-perf format at 400 fps, K65K captures over 110 times the visual bandwidth of standard 35mm per second. We created a metric for this: the Image Bandwidth Index (IBI). K65K achieves 110 Tiz — no other camera comes close.
Rotary prism technology
K65K uses a giant rotary prism mechanism — the same fundamental technology that has powered high-speed cameras for decades, but scaled to 65mm for the first time. The rotating prism compensates for film movement, allowing continuous exposure at speeds impossible for intermittent mechanisms.
Definitely not designed to be a quiet MOS camera. When K65K runs at speed, you know it. But the result is something no pulldown mechanism could ever achieve: true high-speed on the largest motion picture format available.
Freedom and control
K65K was designed to work on real film sets, not in laboratories. The 48V battery system means no generator cables tethering you to a power source. The parallax viewfinder with SDI output gives your operator and focus puller the monitoring they need. The ergonomic hand unit communicates directly with the motherboard for precise speed control and ramping.
And with TirkyMag™, you can stop mid-take — a first for rotary prism cameras. No more burning through film on acceleration and deceleration tails.
Open to any lens
We built K65K with an open-source mount philosophy. Partner manufacturers can develop native mounts for their lens systems. The standard Mamiya adapter (patent pending) opens the door to medium format glass — some of the sharpest, most characterful lenses ever made.
Our proprietary patent-pending internal focusing system enables the use of focal lengths from 50mm up to 500mm while maintaining maximum stability and optical resolution. Your favorite optics. Your camera.
Registration and stability
High speed means nothing without sharp images. K65K features an improved optical tracking system that maintains rock-solid registration across the entire speed range. The mechanical precision required to hold a 52.5mm-wide frame stable at 400 fps pushed us to develop entirely new approaches to film transport and gate design.
The result: images that hold up at any projection size, with the stability you'd expect from cameras running at a fraction of the speed.
Full speed ramping
K65K supports full up/down ramping with 24 fps sync capability. Start a shot at sync speed for dialogue, ramp up for the action, ramp back down for the aftermath — all in one continuous take. The camera handles the acceleration and deceleration smoothly, and TirkyMag™ recovers the tails so you're not wasting film.

Why K65K exists
For decades, high-speed cinematography meant compromise. You could shoot fast, but only on small formats. You could shoot large format, but only at standard speeds. The physics seemed to demand a choice.
K65K is the answer to a question that wouldn't go away: what if you didn't have to choose? What if you could have the resolution of 65mm and the speed of a dedicated high-speed camera? What if the largest motion picture format could also be the fastest?
Now it can.
